A collection of photos taken in three journeys between 2016 and 2024. The Kullu and Spiti regions are adjacent and separated by just a few hours of rough road, yet they are diametrically opposed: Kullu is an alpine region with lush forests; its inhabitants are predominantly Hindu of Indian ethnicity. Spiti, on the other hand, is a high-altitude arid desert; the few inhabitants are Buddhists of Tibetan ethnicity (nearly all the men are named Tenzin in honor of the current Dalai Lama).
